Dressed for Success: Are You Properly Suited?

Hello Everyone, Someone, Just One!

Today is Thought-provoking Thursday.

Another day that the Lord has made; commanding us to rejoice and be glad in it.

We are a people chosen to walk on purpose, guided by God to the promise land... destination: Destiny! We are one day closer... Let us Rejoice!

Today's Blog Topic: Dressed for Success: Are You Properly Suited?

We as a people invest in designer fashions and the latest and greatest in clothing trends. Fashion is a huge industry and yes, we are required to adorn ourselves appropriately to be presentable to the world. Most of us exhaust a great deal of time and effort in selecting just the right outfit - to appear acceptable according to the world's standards.

There is a uniform for the various roles we play. In the corporate sector, it may be business casual or executive apparel; from the police officer on the beat to the nurse in the hospital, to the mailman and the sanitation engineer, there is a code for attire that is deemed appropriate.

Dressed for Success? Maybe, but are we properly suited?

Ephesians 6: 11-12 tells us to "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

One of the greatest feats of deception that the enemy has orchestrated is making people think he does not exist. This is far from the truth and in these last days, he is indeed on his job. He arrives early, stays late, works weekends and pulls extra hours.

We are in a war. It's not hand to hand combat or a shoot out... It's spiritual. It's the same war that has existed since before the beginning of creation, but in these last days, the enemy is running rampant in the earth. He's creating havoc in our homes, in our workplaces, in the church, and in our day to day lives. He's a liar, a thief, a murderer and a demolition expert. As we approach the time of promise, the season of destiny, his goal, his objective is to deter and destroy our destinies and to steal souls.

The best defense in any strategic battle is a good offense. The word of God provides us with instruction on how to "Dress for Success" and be "Properly Suited" for war. The designer clothing does not provide the sufficient covering and weaponry that we need to stand victorious. Would it be wise to take a knife to gun fight? Well the same premise applies.

God tells us clearly in His word in Hosea 4:6 that "My people perish for lack of knowledge".

Before we can suit up, we need to know the plan of attack, the strategy. In every battle, the offensive team warriors study their opponent. It would not be wise to enter into a battle without the proper knowledge of the ploys of the opposition.

We are commanded according to the word in 2 Timothy 2:15 to "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." It is our responsibility to read, study and research the scriptures for proper teaching, guidance and instruction on how to proceed in battle.

We are reminded that this battle is not one that can be fought in the natural and the spiritual attire doubles as our weapons for warfare. 2 Cor 10:4 tells us "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ."

We need to adorn ourselves from the crown to the soles with the "armour and weapons" of God.

Ephesians 6:13-18 teaches us how to dress for success...

"Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints..."

It's time we fine tune our minds to embrace the activity of the spirit realm, so that we don't get taken unaware. "To be aware is to be alive!" The enemy gets dressed for success. He adorns himself with bodies. He gets in where he fits in. He dresses up and dresses down. He talks the talk and sounds and looks good doing it.

Indeed deception at its best is executed when there's an element of truth. So he embodies those we least expect to pull off his greatest work. If he showed up looking like the devil, he wouldn't get very far, so he shows up looking just like you and I... Be mindful of appearances, they too can be suited for deception.

This is indeed a battle between light and darkness. Light yields unto Life and Darkness yields unto Death. Choose to fight to stay in the light... It will save your life!

Are you properly suited?

  1. Deneen,

I agree with all that you have written. We have to stop walking out naked, by doing so we position ourselves in a state of defeat, vulnerability and ignorance. Know what the fight is people like Deneen said "would you bring a knife to a gun fight," NO! Well don't bring mess into your spiritual fight. You have to put on the whole armour without compromise. The enemys access must be denied in your life, the way to do that is by making sure you are walking upright in the Lord. Dont rely on just your pastor to speak into your life. Know what God wants and has for you so that YOU can take authority over it. The enemy has made a mockery of us long enough, go get your stuff. Take authority over the territory the Lord has already declared is yours. Be blessed people of God. Deneen continue writing and sharing the heart of God. I look forward to working with you soon. Your CD is in the mail :-)

  2. Thank you for having a voice and speaking out... If more of God's people would stand on His word, on His promises, the enemy would be defeated and could gain no ground. Standing is difficult and often times a lonely road, because those who stand are often rejected and become the target... I'll take my chances with God any day then to deceive myself into thinking that I can flirt with the enemy without repercussions. I won't go along just to get along. I learned along the way a great concept... Either STAND for something or FALL for anything.

    Keep standing...
